Workaround for Excel 2007 Crash (Sheet/Name)

February 27, 2015 10:56 am

A Microsoft bug is causing Excel 2007 (when used with Windows 7 or XP) to Crash when a sheet is added or re-named.

This occurs when a volatile function is present in the workbook.

Since the XL-Viking Variables Functions xlv and xlvu are volatile by their nature, the XL-Viking Team suggest using the following work-around whenever one of these functions are used and a sheet is renamed or added:

1. Before re-naming or adding a sheet, turn OFF the Automatic Calculation option. I.E set it to manual as shown below.

Automatic Off

2. Re-name or add sheet(s)

3. Turn Automatic Calculation back on

Only users with Excel 2007 need to follow the above instructions as this issue was corrected in Excel versions 2010 and 2013.

Regards

The XL-Viking Team
